Helping Hitachi Data Systems with Printon Demand & Custom Fulfillment

A broad range of branded gifts, with custom gift cards integrating automated selection and custom printing

The Situation:

Hitachi Data Systems does business in the public and private sectors in 170 countries on six continents, including the rapidly emerging economies in Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe. They have a strong sense of Corporate Identity and culture.

The Challenge:

The challenge as faced by their purchasing and material management group was to provide suitable holiday gifts and cards which reflected a corporate approval and brand identity across a broad range of local market needs. Additionally they sought to allow some discretion for product selection and content. But with no specific commitment on the quantity of items to produce or fulfill, HDS needed some flexibility on the part of their supplier/partner.

The Solution:

Our account manager worked with the key people within HDS to identify the most popular selections and make those available. Applied Graphics built a web site that was accessed by the client's intranet users to view a special selection of holiday cards and gift baskets created for their external clients. Each gift basket would be created only after each order was placed and the client specific information customized to that users request.

The Results:

By bringing together the flexibility inherent to Print On Demand (POD) and our custom fulfillment capabilities, we provided quality HDS branded products to users domestically and internationally. The materials management group was able to maximize their buying power by focusing their purchases via the site. External clients were treated to gift baskets that reflected the refined tastes of the HDS professionals.
